Funding is critical to research and research career development. Below are listed some links you might find useful in your search. Be sure to look for bridging or transition grants, junior or new faculty grants or startup grants from government and private foundations. Internal Funding Programs
***NEW*** The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs Grants Incentive Program
Wayne State University School of Medicine Grants Incentive Program (GIP) for Postdoctoral Trainees and their Research Mentors

The WSUSOM Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) is pleased to announce an incentive program for SOM postdoctoral trainees submitting applications for national peer-reviewed extramural funding.


In this program, the first ten SOM postdoctoral trainees to submit applications to national funding agencies for peer-reviewed fellowships or grants in each academic year (August through July cycle) will receive $1,000 upon proof of application submission. An additional $1,000 award will be made to each SOM postdoctoral trainee upon successful receipt of such a fellowship/grant from the funding agency. The research mentor of the trainee will also receive a $1,000 award when the trainee obtains a grant/fellowship.

To qualify for the OPA awards, such applications must be the equivalent of the NIH R, K or K/R series of grants/fellowships/career development.

Women of Wayne Research Grants for Faculty and Staff

All current, full-time Wayne State University faculty and academic staff may apply for this grant (US citizens only). Grants are awarded up to $1,000 each.

WSU Alumni Association - Awards and Scholarships: Alumni Awards

Recent Alumni Award Recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding professional achievement, community contributions or service to the university, and has received an undergraduate degree or certificate in the past 10 years (US citizens only).

National Science Foundation: Includes links to each of NSF's directorates.
 

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA):The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense (DoD).

Department of Education (EDInfo): This free information service delivers 2-3 messages per week from the U.S. Department of Education to your e-mail account. Past messages have described ED grants, meetings, Challenge grants, technology resource guide, and financial aid.

Department of Energy: Site provides descriptions of research areas of interest to the DOE.

National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council: Offers links to information on associateship and fellowship programs, as well as a variety of useful information targeted at young scientists beginning their careers.

U.S. Department of Justice

National Endowment for the Humanities: Includes information on funding for research, education, exhibitions, preservation, and other activities related to the humanities.

The Commerce Business Daily: Lists notices of proposed government procurement actions, contract awards, sales of government property, and other procurement information. The site can be accessed from COS via search form.
